Plea to get your chimneys swept

SOUTH Yorkshire Fire Service is urging people who use open fires or wood burners to get their chimneys swept.

The plea comes after the service tackled a chimney fire in Doncaster which required the use of an aerial appliance to extinguish.

Fire officers said that chimneys can easily catch fire due to a build up of soot and other debris and should be swept at least once a year.
