Student Emma’s hard work nets her top award

A STUDENT turned college technician was hailed for her “extraordinary” work ethic and commitment after she won a top learning award.

Emma Radcliffe, lead land-based technician at Dearne Valley College, took the BTEC Award for Land-based Learner of the Year 2022. 

Judges said her relentless enthusiasm had not just been defined by “exceptional” coursework, but also the variety of extra-curricular activities she approaches with “tireless devotion”.

Emma said she was honoured by the award, adding: “Gaining this award acknowledges my dedication and enthusiasm to the land-based industry and the Level 3 animal course and makes all my hard work worthwhile.  

“I am so grateful to my lecturer Lucy Turner and all the team in the land-based department and other learners in Dearne Valley College for their knowledge, and support and for allowing me to grow in confidence and to leading me to win this award.”

Twenty award winners won prizes in categories including health and social care, engineering, music, Esports and creative media, each selected from thousands of eligible students.
