Rockers remember tragic Alan

ROCKER Alan Beck will be remembered by friends and family at a charity race night and concert on Friday.

Silverwood Miners’ Welfare in Dalton is the venue for the event in memory of Alan Beck, the former drummer in now-defunct Rotherham band Redshed.

Alan (28), who took his life earlier this year, climbed Kilimanjaro with his family in February to raise money for the RNIB.

Tickets are £5 each and all proceeds will go to the RNIB and PAPYRUS, a charity set up to increase awareness of suicide among young people.

Those attending will be able to have a go at backing a winner and enjoy performances from Alvarez Kings and singer and guitarist Simon Pashley, who is Alan’s step-brother.

The pair were in Redshed with Simon and Paul Thompson, who are now members of the Alvarez Kings.

You can buy tickets or make a donation at www.justgiving.com/AlanBeck2

Doors open at 7pm and tickets are also available on the door.
