A New foodbank will open in Maltby next week.

Any donations of food will be welcomed, church officials said.

The foodbank run by food distribution firm Food Aware in the former pit town closed last month, although talks are taking place about reopening it.

Another outlet is provided at St Mary Magdalene RC Church on Morrell Street every Friday.

The Full Life Church is also launching a weekly job club, set to run every Friday from 10am to noon.

Job Club Manager Matthew Hodgkinson, who will be leading the workshops, said: “With more people facing long-term unemployment, there is a real need for a personal service which provides practical and emotional support for people to find work again. CAP Job Clubs is designed to do just this.”
