'I'll give MP's salary away', pledges candidate

A BUSINESSMAN is standing as a “free MP” — pledging to donate his first year’s salary to local issues and charity.

Paul Dickson, from Northumberland, says MPs cannot and should not be able to use their position as their own personal gravy train.

Mr Dickson said: “People are sick and tired of the Coalition’s arrogance and austerity measures. However, with Labour in power would it be any different?

“All the political parties fail to take action to close down the tax loopholes which allows tens of billions to go uncollected in taxes from the large multinationals and the wealthy every year — money which would ease the pressure on our essential services.”
