ROTHERHAM’S popular Herringthorpe Stadium could face closure as Rotherham Council seeks to cut £20.2m from its budget.
Herringthorpe Stadium hosts weekly Rotherham Rockets junior athletics sessions, the district cross country finals and the annual Cancer Research UK Race for Life, as well as a range of other events.
Now the council is hoping a local athletics club could take over the day-to-day running of the 53-year-old stadium.
