Gym plan for former steelworks

Litton Ltd will  open the exercise centre at the former Ruscon spot off Rotherham Road.

Planning board member Cllr David Roche noted that there are already four gyms within a mile of the site.

“Three of them are very large and one is council owned,” he pointed out.

“I wouldn’t want to see any of the existing gyms left as a vacant building because they are no longer viable.”

The site had been used for industry for at least 50 years before the Ruscon buildings were demolished.
