Glimpse behind the scenes at Rotherham Hospice

ROTHERHAM Hospice opens its doors to the public next week to give the public a glimpse of its vital support services.

Open days with the chance to speak to volunteers, staff and patients take place from Monday to Saturday.

The chance to find out more about the 14-room inpatient unit, day services and community team is is part of national Hospice Care Week.

Chief executive Mike Wilkerson said: “Many people are surprised to find out that hospice care is for everyone, including people of all faiths, ethnicities and social groups.

“It’s for people with a range of terminal illnesses and people in a variety of settings including care homes, hospitals and their own homes.

“This Hospice Care Week, we want to tell everyone in Rotherham that your hospice is here for you. “Our care is tailored to the needs, wishes and culture of each individual and their families and carers.

“We also need your support so we can reach out to more seriously ill people in our community and help them to make every day count.”

Visitors are welcome to pop in from 11am to 2pm Monday to Friday, plus 5pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday and 10am to 1pm on Saturday.

Refreshments will be available and the hospice shops will also be participating during the week and highlighting that hospice care is for everyone.
