Council postpones weekend's sports matches
ROTHERHAM Borough Council has called off all sports matches due to take place on its pitches this weekend.
All football and rugby matches due to be played on January 9 and January 10 on pitches run by the council have been postponed following heavy rain.
A spokeswoman said: "The decision has been taken today (Wednesday) to cancel all pitch hires on council owned pitches for this weekend.
"Our pitches will not be playable by the weekend and we are in the process of contacting affected parties."
