Brinsworth pub rocks on for charities

A PUB rock festival aims to raise funds for a children’s charity, a special school and a paralysed firefighter.

Magfest takes place at The Three Magpies in Brinsworth, building on the success of a similar event last year.

Entertainment starts at noon on Sunday, August 28, with an outdoor stage hosting live music until sunset.

Bands include Carla May, Crafty Jack and Lateral Vision and headline act Hystryonyx will play classic rock and pop covers from about 6.30pm.

There will also be family fun with rides, bouncy castles, face-painting and a visit from firefighters.

Money raised will go to The Willows School, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Gavin Walker..

Gavin  (28), of Thorpe Hesley, was paralysed from the chest down after a freak swimming pool accident last July.

He has since returned to work part-time and plays wheelchair rugby, but needs funding for alterations to his home.
