Bank workers bring in the money on charity hike

BANK workers swapped the counter for the countryside to complete a special Hadrian’s Hike for charity.

The Rotherham staff of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks helped to raise £100,000 for Hospice UK by successfully taking on an ancient Roman frontier.

The 26-mile trek was the firm’s largest ever employee fundraising initiative.

Laura Main (33), a mortgage advice checker in Yorkshire Bank’s Rotherham branch, successfully completed the trek alongside local colleagues James Bradley, Kath Gibbs and Peter Glenn.

She said: “It was a challenging but truly exhilarating experience to hike along Hadrian’s Wall with so many of my colleagues for the benefit of Hospice UK.  “The bank is supporting us by match funding every penny raised which was a great motivation along the way.”
