New Rotherham jobs promised as MTL Group expands

UP to 50 new jobs could be created by the expansion of a manufacturing firm.

MTL Group has announced that it is creating 50 jobs and relocating to a new 300,000 sq ft advanced manufacturing facility in Rotherham after receiving a grant from Yorkshire Forward.

The company, which laser cuts, bends, machines and fabricates steel, has expanded rapidly following a management buyout in 2006.

Dr Henry Shirman, the firm’s managing director, said: "The strategic investment in the new site will see MTL more than double in size and enable us to deliver a greater range of services to our customers."

Yorkshire Forward is aiding the capital expansion with regional grant funding to support the 50 new jobs created by the move.

Simon Hill, executive director of business for Yorkshire Forward, said: "MTL Group's expansion and relocation is great news for the region, building on our international manufacturing offering and creating 50 new jobs.

“It demonstrates Yorkshire's manufacturing strengths, with MTL grasping the opportunities that exist for focused specialist manufacturing which is the main focus of the new regional manufacturing strategy.”
