A CEREMONY marked the official opening of Elements Academy — bringing the former Rother Valley College campus back into use as a specialist school for children with additional needs.

The building, on Doe Quarry Lane in Dinnington, was bought by Rotherham Council after being closed by RNN Group in summer 2020.

The school is being run by Ethos Academy Trust with the aim of meeting growing demand for places for youngsters with the likes of ADHD, anxiety and autism spectrum conditions.

The first pupils started there in September and the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Taj Khan, carried out the ribbon-cutting honours on Monday (16) morning.
