New bid to knock down Wales pub

NEW plans to demolish the Lord Conyers pub at Wales have been submitted, just five months after a similar plan was thrown out.

In February, Rotherham Borough Council said applicants Brocklebank & Co had failed to justify razing the pub for four houses.

A new document from JVH Town Planning Consultants says: “We are of the opinion that sympathetic development of this land for four new mews style properties is currently the only commercial viable option for this site in the current climate.

“Given the demise of village pubs we would suggest that it is unlikely that the property would be refurbished and reinstated to its former use as a public house.”
