More time to enter business awards

LOCAL companies have extra time to submit their applications for the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards.

Businesses now have until Friday September 19 to submit their entries for the various award categories up for grabs.  

The awards, which will recognise the achievements of around 40 companies and individuals, honour the region's best in business as companies and individuals compete for 10 prestigious awards and the much sought-after RBS Business of the Year trophy will be presented to the outstanding performers.

Entries are now being accepted for the following categories: The Solar Europa Most Promising New Business Award; The Wosskow Brown Solicitors Business Growth Award; The NPS Barnsley Business Community Impact Award; The Brook Corporate Developments Excellence in Manufacturing Award; The Sheffield Hallam Design & Innovation in Business Award; The Gala Tent Business Person of the Year Award; The ASD Lighting/Rotherham United Excellence in International Trade; The Source Outstanding Retailer of the Year Award; The Rotherham College Digital & Creativity in Business Award and The Barnsley College Apprentice of the Year Award

Andrew Denniff, chief executive of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber said: "We have already received some terrific entries and I would encourage any company out there tell us why they deserve to be a winner.  Despite the economic difficulties, many businesses in the region are excelling and they ought to have recognition for these achievements.

"All businesses in Barnsley and Rotherham are welcome to enter and there are categories that cater for businesses of all sizes and sectors. I hope that all can join us at the ceremony to celebrate our region's best and brightest"
