Mexborough dad-to-be's killers jailed

TWO men have been jailed in connection with the killing of Mexborough dad-to-be Robert Pears.

Ben Wesley (23) was given an indeterminate sentence after admitting manslaughter and must serve a minimum of two years minus 292 days served on remand before being eligible for parole.

David Chadwick (22) was sentenced to two years in jail for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, plus two years and eight months for a charge of causing grevious bodily harm in relation to a separate incident.

Both men, who attacked Mr Pears in Mexborough last August, were locked up at Sheffield Crown Court this afternoon.

After his death last year, Mr Pears, a keen footballer and pub DJ, was described by his family as a strong, loving and kind person who would do anything for anybody.
