Mexborough club helps Typhoon Haiyan aid effort

MEMBERS of a rotary club have been doing their bit to help the victims of the Philippines Typhoon Haiyan.

Mexborough and District Rotary Club is raising funds to send a Shelter Box to help the aid effort in the wake of the recent disaster.

Boxes are specially designed to help with recovery and include a tent, cooking equipment bedding, water purification, crayons and

colouring books for children.

A club spokeswoman said: “Each box costs £500 therefore we are constantly raising funds to help people affected by disasters along

with helping local charities and groups.”

The club is also preparing for its annual concert at St Margaret’s Church in Swinton on December 13.
