Met Office issues severe weather warning
SEVERE weather warnings of gales of up to 80mph in Yorkshire have been issued by the Met Office today.
The warning for the Yorkshire and Humber region advises people in Rotherham to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
The forecast predicts west to south-westerly winds will increase this afternoon, and over the west of the region will gust 70 to 80 mph over hills and 60 to 70 mph at lower levels. Wind speeds will only slowly decrease during the night.
Similar warnings are in place for Northern Ireland, Wales and north west England.
