Marathon man beats final challenge

MARATHON man Gary Page romped home in less than four hours as he took part in his tenth and final race in the capital.

Gary (49), of Woodhall Road in Herringthorpe, finished the London Marathon on April 26 in three hours and 43 minutes.

He told the Advertiser that he will not be running another London Marathon after doing the mammoth trek ten times.

Gary said: “It went absolutely fine.

“The atmosphere is always good.”

Gary said that the weather for the event was a little too cold for his liking but he finished with no aches and pains.

He said that his time was around his average for the London Marathon but said he was sticking to his pledge not to run it again.

He said: “I am just sticking to my principles but every day my thoughts change.”

This time Gary ran to raise cash for the charity Sense which helps people who are deafblind and with sensory impairments but said he has probably used up all his opportunities to raise money after earning £20,000 for various causes over the last decade.
