Manvers call centre creates 150 new jobs in time for Christmas

A NATIONAL call centre company has announced it will create 150 new jobs in Manvers over the next two months.

Webhelp UK already employs 964 people at its site on Adwick Park, opposite Dearne Valley College.

The new recruits will join on a rolling programme and will be trained to deal with customer sales and service enquiries via telephone, email, webchat and social media platforms.

Chief executive David Turner said: “We are acutely aware of how important the Webhelp UK operation is to the Dearne Valley and delighted at the high level of staff we have recruited here.

“We are proud that we can bring new jobs, particularly at this time of the year.”

Wath councillor Alan Atkin described the jobs push as “fantastic news”.

He said: “There’s never a bad time to create new jobs, but this news will be a very good Christmas present for some people.

“The Manvers area is really taking off and the council is doing what it can to market the facilities available to businesses there.”

Manvers is already home to several customer service companies, including Capita and Parseq.

Paul Woodcock, Rotherham Borough Council’s director of planning, described the growth as “a big boost for the local economy”.

He added: “We are delighted that Webhelp UK’s experience of the Dearne Valley has given the company confidence to focus a large part of its national growth here.”
