Man given court order banning contact with girls

A 26-year-old man was handed an eight-year court order restricting his contact with girls under 16.

Police said they had information that Fesal Aslam was engaging in “potentially harmful behaviour,” putting youngsters at risk.

The sexual harm prevention order, given by district judge John Foster at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court, means Aslam cannot have unsupervised contact unless certain criteria are met.

Supt Paul McCurry said: “I am pleased that we have been able to secure another court order of this nature, which further demonstrates our active commitment to safeguarding children from harm.

“Sometimes we receive information about an individual that unfortunately may not be enough to arrest them.

“This new legislation gives us additional powers that means we can enforce certain restrictions, even if we are unable to bring criminal charges.”

Breaching this order is an offence and can lead to fines or imprisonment.
