Man dies in house fire at Mexborough
A MAN in his 70s died after a fire at his Mexborough home on Friday morning.
Crews from Dearne, Edlington and Doncaster stations attended Hawes Close shortly before 9.30am.
“Despite the best efforts of firefighters and paramedics, the man was unable to be revived,” said a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is now on-going into the circumstances surrounding this fire.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
