Man dies after altercation at Thurnscoe Coronation WMC

A MAN has died after an altercation at a working man’s club in Barnsley on Sunday.

The 60-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries during the incident at Thurnscoe Coronation Working Men’s Club on Stuart Street.

Police confirmed this morning that the man had since died.

They have arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of murder and remanded him in custody.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and perverting the course of justice while a 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, both in connection with the incident.

Both have been bailed while police make enquiries. A post mortem examination is due to take place today.
