Man and boy admit planting home-made bomb

A MAN and boy who burst into a house and attacked the occupants with knives left a home-made bomb before fleeing.

Bomb disposal experts were called to the Wickersley property after Charles Marshall (24) of Willow Drive, Maltby and a 16-year-old boy — who cannot be named — entered it and wounded two men inside.

The victims sustained cuts to the head and body, with one suffering a ruptured spleen.

Their attackers left an improvised explosive at the property. Police evacuated nearby houses while Army technicians made the bomb safe.

Marshall and his under-age accomplice admitted to aggravated burglary, wounding and possession of an explosive device in December — they will be sentenced on Monday, March 11 at Sheffield Crown Court.
