ELECTRICITY customers are being reminded who to call when their lights go out.

Northern Powergrid, which is responsible for the power network, says people should contact it if they suffer a power cut rather than their electricity provider.

A spokesperson said that eight out of ten people in the region don’t know who to call if their lights go out.

The spokesperson said: “With many people incorrectly turning to the company they buy their electricity from instead of their local electricity distribution network operator it can increase the time it takes for local people to get the information and support they need.”
