Caroline Langston, the High Street Centre’s development manager, said: “We are very pleased with the grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation.

“The centre works with a range of disadvantaged people in the area and the grant will allow us to continue to deliver our services to the local community.”

The High Street Centre offers one to one and group activities including youth clubs, a summer holiday programme, outdoor trips and residential visits.

It also offers first aid training, support for volunteers as well as after school childcare and healthy living activities for families. The grant will help to pay staff salaries and other running costs.

Pat Greenwood, grant manager for Yorkshire and the Humber said: “Charities are facing many challenges at the moment as funding becomes harder to secure and demand for services increases.

The year 2011 saw the Foundation award £2.2 million in grants to 71 charities in the Yorkshire and the Humber. We would like to replicate this during 2013, so I encourage charities looking for funding to visit the Foundation’s website.”

The Lloyds TSB Foundation supports regional charities in England and Wales with an income up to £1 million.
