ONE OF Rotherham’s best-known nightspots is up for sale—just four years after a £1.5 million revamp.

Liquid and Envy has been put on the market by owners Luminar Leisure and offers which could see the club demolished will be considered.

The prominent two-acre site lies within the heart of an area currently home to major regeneration projects. 

It includes freehold of the 22,000 sq ft club and 150-space car park, on the corner of Main Street and Brinsworth Street.

Property management firm Gerald Eve has been appointed agent and leisure partner Chris Ford is hopeful of an array of different enquiries.

He said: “We expect interest both from operators who want to continue running the venue as a club and also from developers looking to participate in Rotherham’s ambitious rejuvenation plans.

“The vendor has said it may consider taking back a short-term lease of the nightclub if that would be of interest to developers.”

An extensive refurbishment saw Liquid modernised and new addition Envy become the region’s only club dedicated to the over-25s in May 2007.

Liquid is 200 metres from the multi-million pound Riverside House project, into which the first of 2,400 Rotherham Borough Council staff will move before the end of 2011.

And work is well under way on Rotherham United’s new 12,000-seater stadium behind the nightclub.
