Jester school and spooks provide castle Hallowe’en fun

SPOOKY tales from the castle keep and a medieval jester school were among the activities at Conisbrough’s Hallowe’en celebrations.

Conisbrough Castle held a Spooky Spectacular for families on Saturday, with ghoulish craft activities, face painting and a fancy dress competition.

The next major event at the castle will be next weekend, when illuminated poppy images will be projected onto the walls of the castle.

The tribute, between 7pm and 9.30pm next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, is to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.

Crowds of people are expected to gather see the display and an official switch-on will take place each night, with Doncaster paratrooper Ben Parkinson MBE doing the honours on Remembrance Sunday.

Extra money raised through crowdfunding beyond the target total is being donated to the Conisbrough and Denaby branch of the Royal British Legion.
