Hill was arrested immediately after the doctor was reported missing and has remained in custody until this week’s trial.

At the opening of the case, the court heard that Dr Shawcross was having an affair with the wife of Andrew Hill.

The court heard evidence that following a row, Hill threw his wife and son out of their home and drove to Dr Shawcross’s home on Ashley Grove, Aston.

Once there, he attacked Dr Shawcross in the kitchen before dragging his body out of the car and into the doctor’s Jaguar.

The prosecution claimed that Hill then drove the body and a wheelbarrow to Loscar Woods where he dug a grave for the body.

The case continues.
