Hunt on for Rotherham Olympic torch bearers

NOMINATIONS are being sought for leading lights of the community to carry the Olympic torch along part of its route to London.

Rotherham folk are being urged to make nominations to ensure that the town is part of the pre-games celebrations and the 70 day torch relay, starts at Lands End today (19).

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, chaired by Lord Coe, are searching for 8,000 torch bearers that have done their personal best in any walk of life.

Anyone wanting to make a nomination must write 150 words explaining why n individual should be chosen.
