Hunt for South Yorkshire's top youngsters

THIS year’s search for South Yorkshire’s Young Achievers has been launched by a 2009 winner from Rotherham.

Emma Cartlidge (12), who was 2009’s Youngster of the Year, opened nominations for the 2010 contest.

The awards mark their 18th year with the creation of new charity Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation.

Foundation and awards chairman Peter McCormick said: “This is a very special anniversary, marking as it does both our 18th birthday and the creation of the foundation which will help many more young people in Yorkshire.

“Every year we think that the stories that we hear can't be more inspiring and every year we are once again overwhelmed by the achievements of the region's young people.

“If you know someone who deserves recognition, nominate them now.”

Young people who live, work or were born in Yorkshire are eligible to celebrate their achievements in business, sport, education, the arts and overcoming adversity.
