House damaged after cooker left on

FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a cooker was left on at an empty house on Sunday.

FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a cooker was left on at an empty house yesterday.

Crews from Rotherham and Maltby attended Gallow Tree Road, East Herringthorpe, at about 5pm.

The blaze was out on arrival but firefighters ventilated the property, which was smoke damaged.

A crew from Rotherham station returned to East Herringthorpe shortly after 9pm after a phone box was set alight.

They were at Ridgeway for about 15 minutes and a spokesman confirmed the blaze was deliberate.
