House-builder gives thearapy park a cash boost

A NATURE therapy park will receive a £500 boost, thanks to a retirement house-builder.

Winthrop Park, located behind Wickersley Woods on Second Lane, features interesting plants which stimulate the senses.

Wickersley Parish Council will use a £500 grant from McCarthy and Stone to purchase new flowers and treat the park’s lawns.

Council chairwoman Cllr Sue Ellis said: “Since taking over Winthrop Park in February 2016, it has been of fundamental importance to us to ensure that the park remains an asset to Wickersley.

“The park is to remain free to enter on the opening days of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 11am until 3pm.

“Donations from local businesses such as this are welcomed. We’re extremely grateful to McCarthy and Stone for their contribution.”

Liz Green, north east sales and marketing director, said: “We appreciate that our responsibility is not only to build quality properties, but also to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.
