Gritters out in force as Rotherham wakes up to snow

SCHOOLS remain open as normal as the Rotherham borough woke up to the first snowfall of the winter.

Rotherham Borough Council said there were no reports of any school closures on Wednesday (November 9).

The Met Office said snow showers were expected to clear from around noon.

A council spokesman said gritting teams will be out throughout the morning and has around 5,000 tonnes of grit in stock at its depot.
