Green Spaces team seeking clean-up volunteers

GREEN-fingered residents are being urged to help one of Rotherham’s beauty spots to become more beautiful.

Rotherham Council’s Green Spaces Team, along with Denis MacShane MP, borough councillors and the Winterhill Environmental Group, are setting out to give Engine Pond in Kimberworth a tidy-up.

Their aim is to clear the pond, remove any litter and open-up overgrown areas to help create the perfect home for wildlife.

The event takes place on Saturday, October 16, from 10am to 2pm and anyone willing to take part should meet at the Engine Pond on Little Common Lane.

Green spaces officer, Nicola Jones, said: “Everyone is welcome and this is a great way to meet new people in your community.

“All equipment is provided but please come prepared with warm clothes and sturdy boots.

“Don't forget your warm flask and packed lunch, too.”

Dr MacShane added: “I am delighted to be involved in such a valuable project.
