GALLERY: opening day at New York Stadium

It was a dream homecoming day for the Millers with their debut at New York Stadium last week.

Men, women and children wept with joy as Steve Evans' newly-assembled team took to the pitch for the first game at the club’s stunning 12,000-seat home ground for the first time against Barnsley last Saturday.

A 2-1 victory was the icing on the cake after four years in exile at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium.

Fans captured the moment on smart phones and compact cameras, while the Rotherham Advertiser team were on hand to record the occasion on film and in print.
