Future bright at community centre

ROTHERHAM MP Sarah Champion joined borough councillors Jahangir Akhtar and Kath Sims for the official opening the Richmond Park community centre.

The building which has been transferred to the community group under the right to bid for public assets and transformed into a for residents, with coffee mornings and activities for the young and the elderly.

Ian Jones, chairman of Richmond Park TARA said he was grateful to the ward councillors for their support in securing the building for the community.

Cllr Akhtar said: “I am pleased the building has been transferred to the community of Richmond Park.

“I know first-hand the excellent work the TARA does week in, week out.

“They hold many activities throughout the year including fun days for the children, Easter bunny hunts, Hallowe’en parties and Christmas parties for the children and the senior citizens of the estate.

“This is the kind of spirit in which communities thrive and flourish.”
