Funeral of teenage footballer Tom to take place tomorrow

THE FUNERAL of talented teenage footballer Tom Bothamley, who died suddenly earlier this month, will take place tomorrow.

Tom (13), of Flanderwell, died at home while watching music videos on his laptop on Friday, July 8.

He died from so-called long QT syndrome — a heart condition which causes an irregular heartbeat.

His funeral will take place on Thursday, July 28. The procession will leave the family home on Willow Drive at 11.30am and there will be a service at St Alban’s Church, Wickersley, from noon..

His ashes will be buried alongside his dad Ryan’s — who died of suddenly adult death syndrome aged 15 in February, before his mum Keira Hayden knew she was pregnant — at a service at Rotherham Crematorium from 1.30pm.

The public are welcome to attend and are asked to wear the blue and white of Sheffield Wednesday — who Tom was a huge fan of.

A fund-raising campaign set up by the family’s neighbour Rhiannon Storrs to help towards funeral costs raised more than £8,700.
