Fund-raisers prepare for Macmillan Coffee Mornings

COFFEE lovers will be brewing up today to back an annual drive for funds.

Events are being held around Rotherham as part of Macmillan Cancer Research’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

One of those putting the kettle on is Rachel Harvey (30) of Oak Road, Wath,  who lost her sister-in-law, Gill Harries, to cervical cancer in March. She also lost her auntie, Alison Myatt (46), to bowel cancer.

St Joseph’s Court Community Centre, St Joseph's Court (off New Road), Dinnington, from 10.30am.

Rotherham dance centre are Stag studios are having a tea party from 6 to 7.30pm.

Rotherham Centenary Markets from 9am.

The Beauty Boutique beauty salon at Wickersley from 11am.

Co-operative Funeralcare, Clyde Villas on Doncaster Road, from 9am, with cakes and a raffle.

Dalton Parish Hall, on Doncaster Road in Dalton, from 9am, with stalls including bric-a-brac, books and jigsaws.

Canklow Road Doctors Surgery, from 9am, selling home-baked cakes and biscuits.

Cllr Joyce Brindley will host her third annual Macmillan coffee morning at Anston Parish Hall, with stalls for books, CDs and DVDs.

St Paul’s Church in Masbrough, from 10am

Beauty Boutique on Bawtry Road, Wickersley, from 11am.

Greenside, Greasbrough, from 10am to noon.

Greasbrough Working Men’s Club, Church Street, from noon to 4pm.

Church House in Wath, from 10am to 2pm.

Proceeds taken from the regular coffee morning at St Leonard’s and St Peter’s church hall, Thrybergh, will also be donated to Macmillan — the event begins at 9.30am.

Cllr Rose McNeely will hold a get-together at Rotherham Town Hall on Monday, September 30, beginning at 10am.
