AT least that’s the verdict of Sheffield’s Owlerton stadium, which reckons an increasing number of businesses are bucking the trend of tiresome office discos in favour of quirky Christmas-themed trips.

Orienteering trips, quad biking and even ten-pin-bowling are said to be proving firm favourites, according to research by bosses at the Owlerton greyhound track.

And the stadium will be hosting dining, betting and dancing in its newly refurbished restaurant this Christmas.

Managing director John Gilburn said: “Year after year businesses hold the same Christmas parties at the same venues and it’s all becoming a bit stale.

“At Owlerton Stadium we offer something that little bit different, that often people haven’t even considered.

But once they’ve experienced it, we find that they keep coming back for more.

“For us it’s all about making the event one to remember to keep businesses coming back next year.”
