Flooding warning as heavy rain and gales batter country

HEAVY rain and strong winds are expected to continue to batter parts of Rotherham throughout Monday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning as a band of heavy, persistent rain slowly moves across the country.

Its chief forecaster said up to 50mm of rain could fall in just six hours in some parts of Yorkshire and wind gusts could reach 50mph.

He advised people to be aware of the possibility of flooding and possible to disruption.
