Fire scene man's death "not suspicious"

FIREFIGHTERS investigating a bungalow fire have said that the death of a man whose body was found in the house is not suspicious.

The body of the man, whose has not been named and whose death is not thought to have been caused by the fire, was found in a house in Norstead Crescent, Bramley, after the alarm was raised at 3.10pm last Friday.

Firefighters from Maltby and Rotherham were called on Friday afternoon to the house after reports of a fire and found the man's body in one of the bedrooms.

His death was not thought to have been caused by the fire or believed to be suspicious.

Firefighters found that the fire had started in a cooking pan had been put out by a man who was working nearby.

The kitchen was thick with smoke and an elderly woman, who lived in the property but was unhurt, had been led outside by neighbours.

Station manager Steve Copp said: "This is a very sad incident and our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased."
