Family tribute to tragic David

Floral tributes marked a family’s final farewell this week to a man found dead outside his home was held this week.

David Wilkes (39), was found on the landing outside his first-floor flat at of Fortway Road, Brinsworth, at around 9am on Saturday, March 26.

A post-mortem examination revealed he suffered head injuries.

Mr Wilkes’ funeral was held at St Thomas’ Church, Church Street, Kimberworth, yesterday.

Tributes featuring the words “Son” and “Bro” were laid outside church, alongside one with the message: “To a special bro—see you, mate.”

A neighbour, 20-year-old Justin Fishlock, also of Fortway Road, Brinsworth, has been charged with Mr Wilkes’ murder.
