Ex-husband 'stalked and stabbed' Julie - court

THE ex-husband of murder victim Julie Gallagher has been accused of killing his estranged wife after holding her at knifepoint in her own home.

George William Gallagher (55), of Eldon Road, Eastwood, allegedly stalked his estranged wife for weeks before stabbing her to death at her terraced house in Foljambe Road, Eastwood.

Sheffield Crown Court heard that Mrs Gallagher (41), had left him because of his violent behaviour and he was facing a charge of assault on her at the time of her death.

She was last seen alive at around 1.15am on Thursday, March 24, as she left the Cranworth Public House in nearby Fitzwilliam Road.

Her blood-soaked body was found on March 27.

Gallagher denies murder. The trial continues.
