Embrace your natural look, says Treeton beauty queen Jamie-Lee

BEAUTY queen Jaime-Lee Faulkner went without make-up for a whole week to encourage young women to embrace their natural look.

The 26-year-old from Treeton, who is set to compete for the Miss Universe Great Britain title in July, ditched the mascara and lipgloss for seven days to try and encourage other young women to go au naturelle.

Jaime-Lee — who runs the Faulkner’s Beauty Salon on Brinsworth Road, Brinsworth — said: “I regularly go make-up free as I do a lot of sports including scuba diving. However, for work and socialising I probably haven’t gone totally make-up free for this length of time for a good few years.

“The whole thinking behind the Miss Universe Great Britain challenge is the celebration and empowerment of young women and sometimes that means us stepping outside of our comfort zone and doing things we may not do on a regular basis.

“Over the next couple of months I have a few events planned to help raise funds and awareness for the competition’s chosen charity, Strongbones, which helps children across the UK who have diseases of the bone. In the past the competition’s fundraising has provided sports wheelchairs to budding paralympians, provided sacks of Christmas gifts to children’s cancer wards and funded fairytale parties in Hamleys and Harrods.”

Paula Abbandonato, national director of Miss Universe Great Britain, said: “It’s quite a challenge as a daily make-up routine is very much the norm for lots of young women.”
