Dominic said: “Mexborough used to be home to several cinemas, but these are now closed.

“The reality is people have to travel to Doncaster or Meadowhall to watch a film.

“I have been working in Mexborough for the last year and talking to people who live here has revealed how much the cinema is missed in the town.

“We’d like to give people the chance to see films on their doorstep again so we are organising a film festival in Mexborough this summer.”

Volunteers are not just needed to be in front of the camera, as the pair also need everything from make-up artists to sound engineers.

No experience is necessary — those involved just be keen and available for filming during mid-to-late July.

If you are interested in being involved either in front of or behind the camera, go along to Mexborough Resource Centre on Dolcliffe Road in Mexborough, on Wednesday, July 2at 6.30pm to find out more.

Dominic added: “As well as welcoming people with no film-making experience, we want to work with anyone from Doncaster who does have film experience.
