DJs set to relive heyday of Rotherham's Charade nightspot

DJs will be rolling back the years this weekend at a reunion night for a former Rotherham nightclub.

Reliving their 70s and 80s heydays at the Charade nightclub, Stag, will be Ron Stanley, plus a string of other club favourites including Speedy, Alan Fenton and Dave Growns, who was also the Charade’s manager in later years.

Former Charade fan and local historian Keith Brisland is writing a book about the club and has interviewed more than 30 former DJs, staff and clubbers about the Charade’s golden days.

“I used to go there regularly and then later for people’s 21sts and wedding receptions.

“I’m hoping to meet people that I’ve not already interviewed.

“It’s a great chance to get together with old friends and hopefully to help me with the book.”

The free reunion is at Wickersley Working Men’s Club on Friday, October 28.
