Disorder rumours cause Rotherham Show attendance slump
RUMOURS of potential disorder were partly to blame for fewer Rotherham Show visitors, according to the mayor.
Numbers on Saturday were estimated at below 15,000 — at least 10,000 short of the usual daily attendance for the annual event.
The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Maggi Smith, said: “It was thought to be in part down to the weather. Also, sadly, in part due to scaremongering on social media.”
