Discarded cigarette causes fire at Canklow

A FIRE of brambles at the side of a river in Canklow last night was caused by a discarded cigarette, fire officials say.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Centenary Way at 8.35pm.

A spokesman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the crew had found some brambles at the side of a river were on fire.

"This was dealt with by 9.05pm and is thought to have been caused by a discarded cigarette," he added.
