Diggin’ up Gold in tribute to miners

A FORMER pit town remembered their mining heritage with a day of art, music and re-enactment.

The Diggin Up Black Gold event at Goldthorpe’s Union Jack Club on Saturday was dreamed up to mark the 30th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike.

Residents young and old re-created the soup kitchens of the strike and admired a mural created by residents of Goldthorpe with help from art and performance group Uplift.
